Making a Difference

Brenda Jones, APR is an accredited member of the Canadian Public Relations Society. With a BA in Sociology from UBC and a certificate in Journalism, she started out as a newspaper reporter before moving into public relations 16 years ago.

Many of her clients are dedicated to making a difference in the world around them. As a consultant, Brenda has provided public relations and marketing services to Tree Island Gourmet Yogurt, BC Salmon Marketing Council, A&W Canada, SFU Community Trust, Ostara Nutrient Recovery Technologies, Provincial Health Services Authority, BC Hydro and Novex Couriers. She is also regularly subcontracted by other PR firms to do media relations, writing/editing, and communications advising.

Brenda has held communications positions at:

  • The Vancouver Aquarium
  • TimberWest Forest Corp.
  • UBC

In 2013, Brenda began teaching a 3rd year Business Writing course at UBC’s prestigious Sauder School of Business. This part-time position allows Brenda to share her vast array of professional experience with up-and-coming business professionals, while also learning first-hand what motivates and interests Millennials.

Brenda’s interests revolve around wildlife, sustainability, health and nutrition, food/cooking, and agriculture. She was Vice-President of the Board of Directors for Stanley Park Ecology Society and chaired its Marketing and Communications Committee. Brenda now volunteers for Mountainaire Avian Rescue Society in the Comox Valley in various capacities, including as a public relations advisor.
